Costa Blanca North

Costa Blanca - meaning 'White Coast' is on the eastern coast of Spain and extends more than two hundred kilometres. For those of you who already know this wonderful area, no introduction is necessary. Siroco Estates can be your real estate agency in Northern Costa Blanca for buying properties. However, for those of you who don't know this area, please read on

DENIA is located at the northern most point of the Costa Blanca, to the south east of the White Coast, the historic town of Denia provides a great location for those looking for a high quality lifestyle. Denia is a jewel among Spanish coastal towns. Its guarded by a fortress which enjoys splendid views of Denia from the esplanade, there’s also the beautiful 17th century Church of Santa Maria. The city has evidence everywhere of the Iberians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs who controlled the area in turn, over its 3,000 year history. The climate here is one of the best in Europe and with the air from Montgo it has attracted those who find it the ideal location for the benefit of their health. On a clear day you can catch sight of the Balaeric island of Ibiza and you can take the ferry over, which departs twice daily. Denia’s 20km coastline is made up of fine beaches – try the Cao de San Antionio and the Cabo de la Nao. To the north of the town there’s the beaches of fine sand and shallow waters, such as Les Marines, L’Amadrava, Les Deveses, Les Bovetes and els Palmars and to the south lie a series of small coves along the rocky coast, known as Les Rotes, which is a paradise for fishermen and divers. It’s very difficult to get rental property here, as this area is in demand!

MORAIRA is a small coastal town, situated in the beautiful mountainous area of Marina Alta. It has an impressive marina, an excellent variety of local shops, open markets, harbour-side restaurants and bars, which still retain their Spanish character. The strict planning controls have left the valley of Moraira with no hint of towering hotels or apartment blocks. The beautiful, luscious green countryside, dotted with whitewashed luxury villas and low rise ‘pueblo-style’ apartment complexes, amid pine woods, cultivated vine terraces and orange groves, make this an idyllic setting for those wanting total peace and privacy. There are four beaches within this resort, all with crystal clear waters and all awarded with EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness. On the El Portet and L’Ampolla beaches you can enjoy pedalos, jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and scuba diving. The L’Andrago is a boulder beach and is particularly ideal for snorkelling.

BENISSA is a beautiful and pleasant town, surrounded by the rocky mountains of Bernia, the Solana, Olta, Verda Mesh and the sea and is at the end of a long narrow valley. Its raised, narrow cobbled streets, white fronted houses and old buildings preserve the medieval beauty of Benissa, almost as though it has been caught in time. The main hub of life is to be found beside the marina and its main beach, although the town itself is situated a few kilometres inland. For beach-lovers, there’s over 4km of coastline and five main beaches, the most well known is the Playa de la Fustera it has fine, white sand and crystal clear water. There’s shopping, harbours, fine restaurants, small mountain villages, sailing, tennis and golf courses nearby. This area is known to be one of the warmest locations in Spain in the winter, because it is in a sheltered pocket between the mountains and the sea.

JAVEA is dominated by its own mountain, the Montgo, which rises 753 metres above sea level. The Montgo and its surroundings are protected National Parkland and considered Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The location of Javea is covered with olive, orange, lemon and almond trees and, of course, vineyards providing inexpensive local wines. Javea has three separate and unique areas; THE OLD TOWN is a labyrinth of narrow streets and small plazas and white washed houses, decorated with wrought iron grills and balconies. This Medieval old town is dominated by the gothic fortified church of San Bartolome, a listed National Artistic Monument dating back to the 15th century. THE PORT boasts a Marina and facilities for all kinds of water sports, including sailing, fishing, scuba diving, water skiing and windsurfing. THE ARENAL area has a beautiful, clean, golden sandy beach, which always holds a blue flag for cleanliness. Surrounded by dozens of restaurants, bars and clubs offering a wide variety of food, drink and entertainment.

JALON VALLEY – ‘The Valley of Wine’ is a spectacular location, with the village of Jalon in the centre of the valley and many smaller villages which are nestled amongst the grape vines and fruit trees. The Jalon village revolves around The Old Square, where you will find a beautiful fountain, around which there is an open market each week. Seen from the square is the famous Jalon Church, with its blue dome. Famous for its local wines, there are at least three bodegas in Jalon, where you can spend many a leisurely hour sampling the various types. But beware, some are very strong!

GANDIA is in the district of La Safor, known as ‘The Orange Blossom Coast’. The town lays back from its beach by about 3 kilometres and has a bustling centre. The Paseo has a central tree-lined esplanade, two fountains and roadside cafes. The raised promenade is lined with palm trees and grass verges and the long, sandy beach is so wide, you could never imagine it getting crowded. There are a large variety of restaurants and watering holes along the seafront and a marina is situated at the end of the town. Gandia is traditionally Spanish, this is reflected in the historical buildings and spirit of the local people. In this atmospheric town you can immediately forget your hectic and stressful life!

Costa Blanca North is a world full of surprising contrasts, thanks to its scenic diversity and cultural wealth, living in perfect harmony with a mountainous interior dotted with fertile valleys, luxuriant orchards and market gardens. The World Health Organisation has proclaimed that the Moraira, Javea and Denia peninsular - known as the Marina Alta - has "one of the most environmentally perfect climates in the world". Siroco Estates can be your sole real estate agent in Costa Blanca North and help you buy your dream Northern Costa Blanc apartment or villa.

During the year there are many fiestas, carnivals and celebrations, that consist of music, dancing, parades, sports competitions and spectacular Fallas (huge papier-mache figures) that are ultimately burnt in the streets. Several of the fiestas are followed by brilliant firework displays.

If you appreciate ‘Real Spain’ and are longing for a stress-free lifestyle, the appeal of ‘Beautiful’ Costa Blanca North will leave you captivated. You won’t want to leave this place - so don’t disappoint yourself; buy a one-way ticket!
