ALICANTE the capital city of the province is well worth a visit. The city itself offers many examples of fine baroque architecture. The delightful La Rambia, running through the centre of the city can be accessed by lift. Below the castle lies the port and the palm-lined Paseo de la Explanada. North of Alicante is the rocky beach of San Juan and south is a long sandy beach, fringed by dunes known as los Arenales del Sol. This could well be a place for you to own your Costa Blanca property.
ELCHE is set in the heart of Costa Blanca, just 20km from Alicante. Looking for a property for sale in Costa Blanca Spain , surrounded by innumerable palm trees? Then this one is for you. 300,000 palm trees contribute to Elche's uniqueness and have become a symbol of its identity. These palm trees make up the southern most and most extensive palm tree grove in Europe and have been declared to be a World Heritage Site since the year 2000. Close to 12km of beach is where sand dunes meet pine trees along a scenic Mediterranean coastline. The shopping in Elche is excellent, also it is the place in Spain to buy your shoes – as most of Spain’s footwear is manufactured here. So, if your shoes say “Made in Spain”, they probably were made here…
SANTA PALO is 18km south of Alicante and has a fine harbour and fishing port, famous for its catches of langostinos. The old quarter of the town boasts a 16th century fort, a reminder of the times when Santo Pola served as a port for the town of Elche and needed defenses against the Barbarian pirates. In the water meadows around Santo Pola, can be seen flocks of flamingos and other wading birds, such as Egrets and Herons. The real estate in Costa Blanca at Santa Palo will take you as much closer to the nature as you can get.
LA MARINA is situated approximately 20 minutes drive from Alicante and has a well developed urbanization with many different nationalities residing here. Finding property for sale in Costa Blanca Spain would be easiest here because of truly global residents of La Marina . The beautiful Blue Flag sandy beaches of La Marina offer safe bathing and are approximately 5km long. There are plenty of bars and restaurants of all nationalities and busy markets twice a week.
ALMORADI village is a bustling, friendly little village with supermarkets, shops, medical facilities, banks, inexpensive restaurants and a good selection of friendly bars. It has several interesting architectural features, such as the Casino and the Church of San Andres. It is located near to the Segura River, just a few minutes away from the beautiful beaches at Guadamar. Again an ideal place for having property in Costa Blanca.
GUADAMAR epitomises a typical Spanish seaside resort. Amongst its many attractions is a superb beach side with miles of clean golden sand and plenty of traditional bars and restaurants. On Wednesday the town transforms into a mad, whirlwind of activity with its market, but to spend a normal day in Guardamar is like spending a day in rush free heaven! So, if you like to relax away from the crowd, then having your Costa Blanca property located in Guadamar would be ideal.
TORREVIEJA dates back to the 18th century and takes its name from a watch tower it was built around, called ‘Old Tower’ or ‘la Torre Vieja’. Today, it is a popular tourist resort with an abundance of leisure facilities. Surrounded by the famous salt lagoons of Torrevieja and La Mata, designated as National Parks, it produces about a million tons of salt - mostly exported, making Torrevieja the prime European salt-producer. There are several magnificent sandy beaches, the longest and most northern beach is the la Mata, from where excursions can be made to the tourist vantage point of the Moro Tower, one of the medieval towers in the area. A definite plus is the closeness to some excellent golf courses, including Villa Martin, La Marquesa, Las Ramblas and Campoamor.
MURCIA is a modern commercial city and well worth a visit to see its monuments and for shopping. The cathedral is a favourite, as is the Roman Theatre, the Palace Almundi, Paseo de Malecon, the Casino Ballroom, Santa Catalina Square, the Episcopal Palace, the City hall and last but not least the wonderful Esplanade de Espana.
BENIDORM is the true capital of the Costa Blanca and is a great symbol of Spanish tourist growth – as it is the largest resort in Spain! The small village of fishermen and farmers, which had 2,000 inhabitants at the beginning of the 20th Century, has grown into one of the most important tourist complexes in the world, capable of lodging five million visitors a year. This resort really has it all! It is a beautiful setting, with two wonderful sandy bays, separated by a rocky promontory that offers great views in each direction to the Poniente and Levante beaches with a towering offshore fountain, which adds to the spectacle. The beaches of Benidorm are included in the world’s top class and have received international awards for the quality of their water. Fringing the wonderful setting of Benidorm is a mysterious rock looming offshore, known as Peacock Island because of the birds residing there. The waters around the island area a marine reserve and a boat trip here will take just 10 minutes. To satisfy tourist demand there is every amenity under the sun; hundreds of hotels, bars and restaurants, there is endless entertainment, plus every type of sporting activity you can think of! Amongst a hundred and one things to do and visit, is a new enormous theme park ‘Terra Mitica’ which opened in July 2000 and is located against the mountain hill, inland to the village of Finestrate, you can’t miss it!
This excellent family resort is a tourist magnet and looks to remain the most favourite Spanish resort for many years to come.
CALPE city of a near perfect combination of romantic village together with sun and beach. In between Altea to the south and Javea to the north, Calpe with its about 13 000 habitants is known for its rock called the penon de lfach. This massive rock has been inspiring people from everywhere to come and enjoy the nearly perfect view around the bays and the Costa Blanca. Calpe can be reached either by the A-7 highway or the N-332 national road, which I would recommend using. The national road really gives you the kind of holiday feeling as it leads you to Calpe along the coastline up from Alicante.
CALBLANQUE NATURE RESERVE (LA MANGA) just south of La Manga, this has been a protected natural area since 1987 and nature reserve since 1992, Calblanque is an amalgamation of wonderful sand beaches, sandbanks, arid hills, cliff tops and salt flats all of great ecological value. This Nature Reserve represents one of the last untouched areas along the Mediterranean coastline.
CARTEGENA At the southern end of the Costa Blanca, 100km from Alicante, this ancient naval town is set in a magnificent sheltered bay. The best views can be obtained from the Parque de Torres and the Castillio de la Concepcion, an old castle, which dates back to the 14th century. Close to the park’s main entrance you will find the Municipal Auditorium, the venue for many prestigious musical and cultural events. Every summer there is the Mar de Musicas, when musicians from all over the world travel to Cartagena to perform!
As in the Costa Blanca North region, during the year there are many fiestas, carnivals and celebrations, that consist of music, dancing, parades, sports competitions and spectacular Fallas (huge papier-mache figures) that are ultimately burnt in the streets. Several of the fiestas are followed by brilliant firework displays.
The Costa Blanca South has been a long time favourite for many, more and more foreigners are becoming residents here, in reflection this has increased property prices over recent years. The desire to own your own place in the Sun without breaking the bank can still be obtainable here – especially when you compare current UK prices and those elsewhere in Spain and buying off-plan is a great way to take your first steps onto the investment ladder. Whether your wishing to relocate, or have your own holiday home which can bring you rental income, the white coast is a true paradise in Spain.
