FUENGIROLA was once a simple Spanish fishing village, overlooked by a Moorish castle, today it is probably most famous for its five miles of lovely sandy beaches, flanked by high-rise hotels and apartment blocks with magnificent views of the Mediterranean and the sweeping coastline, with a wide promenade and an abundance of palm trees and colourful flower beds. Its popularity with the Spanish residents and International visitors is evident in the many that have their own summer apartments here, or permanent homes that stretch up into the hills. There’s a wide variety of entertainment and restaurant choice, including traditional tapas and shellfish bars. This lively resort offers so much; there are open-air concerts at the Moorish castle in the summer, you also have access to numerous golf courses and can engage yourself in paragliding, water skiing, windsurfing and sailing.
MIJAS is located in the western Costa del Sol and covers an impressive 148 sq km and includes Sitio de Calahonda and Riviera del Sol, which offers a panorama of undulating hills and pine groves. Its an extremely popular resort and is a typical Andaluz village, with a web of narrow cobbled streets and terraces overflowing with geraniums, perched high above Fuengirola and Mijas Costa offering spectacular views of the coast and surrounding mountains.
BENALMADENA was named by the Arabs and means Son of Madena. It is situated just to the west of Malaga and Torremolinos and is one of the more lively resorts in the area. There are three parts to the resort and they are, BENALMADENA PUEBLO the village, which is the origional settlement on the mountainside. There is BENALMADENA COSTA, which has been built up as a tourist resort, with plenty of beaches and attractions, plus an abundance of bars and restaurants. Finally, there is ARROYO DE LA MIEL, meaning ‘Stream of Honey’, and this area is more residential and business orientated, although Tivoli World is located here. Please be aware that Playas Las Yucas (between Hotel Torrequebrada and Hotel Costa Azul) is a nudist beach!
TORROMOLINOS got its name from the old watchtower ‘torre’, which is on its main street of calle San Miguel and from the flourmills ‘molinos’ which once surrounded the old tower. Therefore, ‘torre de los milinos’ (tower of the mills) became overtime Torremolinos. It is one of the main resorts in the Costa del Sol and is dedicated to giving everyone a good time. There are hundreds of taverns, bars, pubs and discos. This location is very popular with holidaymakers and boasts a 9km long ‘Blue Flag’ beach with sun-beds, parasols, boats, pedalos and banana boats as well as a variety of cafes and restaurants.
MARBELLA is a stylish, cosmopolitan resort that has long attracted the rich and famous, as well as thousands of ordinary holidaymakers with its climate, beautiful landscaping, beaches, world class tennis, sailing, golf courses, pleasant harbours, luxury hotels, restaurants, nightlife and shopping areas – housing some of the best boutiques in Europe. ESTAPONA is a modest jewel, situated midway between Marbella and Gibraltar. The location between sea and mountains allow it to enjoy the benefits of a microclimate. It also retains an authentic flavour of small town Andalusia and is a long-time favourite with many foreign residents. The old town centre, anchored by two ancient churches, consists of narrow, twisting lanes bordered with the traditional white townhouses and their colourful flowerpots. With more than 30km of coastline, there are Chiringitos (beach bars) scattered all over, serving paella or fresh locally caught sardines. On its blue flag beaches you can see clear to the Rock of Gibraltar and the Rock of Morocco.

It has a yacht club, three golf courses, beach clubs, sailing clubs, a yacht harbour and new marina. The 1997 Ryder Cup, golfing tournament was held here, in fact the ‘Old Sotogrande’ has twice been given the award ‘best golf course in Europe’ by golfing journalists!
